Leech Lake

At 103,000 acres, Leech comes in as the third largest lake in the state of Minnesota, and is home to some of the best multispecies fishing in the state. The many bays of Leech are full of wild rice, bullrushes, and cutbanks, making for a dynamic shallow largemouth fishery. Smallmouth have slowly, and then quite suddenly, begun to take over as the dominant bass in tournaments. With countless rock reefs, sand lines, gravel shorelines, and boulders, Leech offers smallmouth plenty of water with in which to thrive. Rusty crawfish, spottail shiners, tullibee, and perch make up the majority of the forage base. Best windows for booking a trip are as follows:

Smallmouth- opener to early June. Late June until mid august.

Largemouth – frog fishing at its finest. Opener all the way to mid-fall.
